SANTA FE – The return of Peter Greste to his family and his country is very welcomed news.  During the months leading up to his release, the Center’s Vice President, Mickey Bergman, had the chance to meet Peter’s parents, Luis and Juris, while visiting Egypt advocating for his release on behalf of Governor Richardson. “The Grestes are aging and incredibly caring people, whom got stuck in an impossible situation. During the time of their son Peter’s incarceration, they had to take shifts with their other son, Mike, spending time in Egypt, advocating quietly on behalf of their son”, said Mickey Bergman, “I am so happy that this has come to a positive resolution.”

The Richardson Center, remains engaged at the request of the families, to help secure the resolution of the remaining two journalists: Baher Mohamed, and Mohamed Fahmy.
